MDSD and MDAGENT High CPU

I have a process called MDSD or MDAGENT maxing out my CPU.  I have tried to kill it, but then it starts itself again.   Do I need it?  Can I get rid of it?

 There are several things

There are several things that might cause this.  All seem to be trojans.  First you need to kill all the instances using activity monitor.  You want to look for any proceses called sh, mdsa, mdsd, or mdagent.

Delete the following folders:  "~/Library/mdsa1331" and "~/Library/manager"
Delete the following files: "~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.legion.plist" and "~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.mdsd.plist"

Verify any other plists in the "~/Library/LaunchAgents/" folder.

It might also be noted

It might also be noted that in some cases this is the spotlight indexer.  If you notice this every couple of weeks, look into what your spotlight indexes.  If you download a lot, or have directories with lots of small files, it might be helpful to turn off monitoring of the download directory or wherever you store your small files.
I have a large picture collection, and it takes forever to index those files.  I excluded the pictures dir and downloads and I rarely see it cause anymore problems.
